Redwald Home Care - Our Story

At Redwald Home Care, our story begins with family.

Before founding Redwald, I spent many years helping organisations improve the way they work through technology and business systems before joining the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office as a diplomat in 2003. In 2020, while serving on a posting in Central Asia, the Covid pandemic unexpectedly left me separated from my family in the UK at a time when they needed support most.

It was from thousands of miles away that I witnessed the extraordinary care given to my late father after he moved into a care home in Suffolk.

The compassion, professionalism, flexibility, and genuine kindness shown by his carers gave him comfort, dignity, and companionship during a difficult chapter of his life. Just as importantly, it gave our family reassurance and peace of mind when we could not always be there ourselves.

That experience stayed with me.

It showed me the profound difference that exceptional care can make—not only to the person receiving it, but also to the people who love them.

Inspired by what I saw, I founded Redwald Home Care with a simple ambition: to provide the kind of care and companionship that every family hopes their loved one will receive.

A Family Business

To bring this vision to life, I am fortunate to work alongside my daughter.

With a background in care and hospitality, she embodies many of the qualities that first inspired the creation of Redwald: warmth, empathy, patience, and a natural ability to connect with people. She brings compassion, professionalism, and genuine dedication to every client she supports, often going above and beyond to make a positive difference in their day.

Together, we are supported by a growing team of wonderful companions and carers who share our commitment to helping people remain independent, comfortable, and connected in their own homes.

We understand that every individual is different. We also understand how important it is for families to know that their loved ones are receiving care from people who genuinely care.

The Story Behind Our Name

Our name is inspired by King Rædwald (Redwald), the great Anglo-Saxon ruler associated with Suffolk and the famous Sutton Hoo ship burial.

Redwald is remembered as a leader who successfully navigated change, balanced different traditions, and brought stability and harmony to his people during a complex period of history. His legacy reflects qualities that continue to inspire us today: wisdom, adaptability, trust, and service.
